Gangs of Wasseypur:Jiah ho Philam Lala.

Producer : Anurag Kashyap

Director : Anurag Kashyap

Cast : Manoj Bajpayee,Piyush Mishra,Tigmanshu Dhulia,Reema Sen,Richa Chaddha

Music : Sneha Khanwalkar

Rating : Jhakaas

With its coarse language and gory violence,Anurag Kashyap presents a realistic movie to the audience.

Wasseypur is a village located in Dhanbad district.Shahid Khan loots the British train by impersonating as Sultana Daku.Sultana Daku kills Shahid Khan’s men and forces Shahid Khan to leave the village.Shahid Khan becomes Ramadhir Singh’s worker in his colliery.

Ramadhir Singh kills Shahid Khan when he comes to know about his intentions.Sardar Khan vowes to kill Ramadhir Singh and becomes the most dreaded man of Wasseypur.

The movie becomes a generation war in the 2nd half wherein the scenes are some-what disjoint.Nevertheless it keeps you glued to the chair.

Manoj Bajpayee as Sardar Khan is scintillating so are the remaining cast.Everybody gels into their respective roles.

A realistic Indian Cinema which should not be missed.

Rowdy Rathore:Kumar becomes Rowdy and Entertains!

Producer : UTV & Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Director : Prabhudeva

Music : Sajid-Wajid

Cast: Akshay Kumar,Sonakshi Sinha,Nasser.

Rating : Paisa Wasool

Shiva is a thug who falls in love with Paro at the first sight. Love blosoms between the two with routine song and dance.

Hell broke loose for Shiva when he discovers a girl addressing him as her father and he is attacked by goons.

Enter Vikram Rathore who protects his daughter from the goons.Flashback,Vikram Rathore is Assistant Superitendant of Police of a village in Bihar called Deogarh.Vikram successfully eliminates the fear of Baabji(Nasser) but eventually loses his life.

Akshay Kumar as Vikram Rathore and Shiva does justice to his character. Both the characters are different and he pulls it off with elan.Sonakshi Sinha as Paro has little to prove as an actress, would recommend her to take author driven roles as she can prove her mettle.

Music is hummable with “Chinta ta Chita Chita” as a perfect opener to the movie.

Vicky Donor:The Donor makes you smile!!!

Producer : John Abraham

Director : Soojit Sircar

Music : Abhishek-Akshay

Cast : Ayushman Khurana,Yami Gautam,Annu Kapoor.

Rating : Jhakaas

Sperm donation is a taboo in India. The movie deals with a sensitive topic of sperm donation and it impresses the audience.

Debutant Ayushman Khurana as Vicky Arora marvels in the title role. Annu Kapoor as Dr.Baldev Chaddha is bankable.

Chaddha runs a fertility clinic whose failure rate is more than his success. He comes across Vicky and figures out that he is the ONE donor who can bail him out.Yami Gautam as Ashima Roy,a divorcee is Vicky’s love interest.

Witty dialogues makes the movie an entertainer. The Punjabi-Bong encounter is humourous.Kudos to Soojit Sircar for choosing a sensitive topic.

Housefull 2:Waste of Time.

Producer : Sajid Nadiadwala

Director : Sajid Khan

Cast : Akshay Kumar,Ritesh Deshmukh,Shreyas Talpade,John Abraham,.Mithun Chakrabarty,Rishi Kapoor,Randhir Kapoor,Asin,Jacqueline Fernandes,Zarine Khan,Johnny Lever.

Music : Sajid – Wajid

Rating : Bakwaas

A movie with a bigger star cast is a waste if it does not have a good script.Bollywood has seen the success of movies with good script eg:Kahaani ,Paan Singh Tomar etc in recent times.

Housefull 2 suffers from a predictable disease called “zero storyline”.The search for bridegroom is inane. It was a torture wartching this movie.

The humour was cliched.Nothing seems to have fallen in place for this movie.Johnny Lever is hilarious and so is the track “Anarkali” else it is a waste of time.

Agent Vinod : Insane Spy

Producer : Illuminati Films

Director : Shriram Raghavan

Music : Pritam

Cast : Saif Ali Khan,Kareena Kapoor,Prem Chopra.

Rating : Bakwass

Saif Ali Khan re-lives the character once played by Mahendra Sandhu in 1977’s Agent Vinod.

Agent Vinod is a RAW agent who is on a mission to save India from a nuclear bomb blast.

Vinod tours exotic locations to find out the suspect and the ‘bum’ bomb.On his visits to different country he meets Ruby (Kareena Kapoor),a lady from Pakistan.

As a typical Bollywood movie,Agent Vinod succeeds in destroying the nuclear bomb in an unsatisfied action sequence. The plot is wafer thin which leaves the audience bored.

In-short the movie disappoints. Please watch it at your own risk.

Kahaani:Awesome..”Aami Shotti Bolchi”

Producer : Viacom 18

Director : Sujoy Ghosh

Cast : Vidya Balan,Parambrata Chatterjee,Saswata Chatterjee,Nawazuddin Siddique.

Rating : Jhakaas

Vidya Bagchi,7 months pregnant, arrives in Kolkata from London to find her missing husband Arnab Bagchi. She begins a relentless search for her husband with little information at her disposal.

As her search progresses, she realises everything is not what it seems. Her husband has a look-alike who was involved in an incident which led to the death of Kolkata metro-rail commuters.

She takes the help of local Police-Officer,Rana (Parambrata Chatterjee) in solving the case.In the mean time, the Intelligence Bureau’s officer Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) gets to know about Vidya’s search as they are also looking for a person who resembles Arnab Bagchi.

What is impressive about Kahaani is that the suspense exists till the climax. We donot know who Vidya Bagchi or Arnab Bagchi is?The movie opens with the title track “Aami Shotti Bolchi”.Barring this, the movie has no songs and no meaningless scenes which might distract the audience.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui,Parambrata Chatterjee and Saswata Chatterjee all shine in their roles.Spare a thought for Vidya Balan. After Dirty Picture, she steals the show as a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband.Mark us on this — she will be nominated for a consecutive Best Actress award for Kahaani.

A thriller which should not be missed !!!

Paan Singh Tomar:Flawless Unsung Hero

Producer : UTV SpotBoys

Director : Tigmanshu Dhulia

Cast : Irrfan,Mahie Gill,Vipin Sharma

Rating : Jhakaas

Kudos to Tigmanshu Dhulia for choosing a topic on an unsung hero,Paan Singh Tomar.

Paan Singh was a National Champion in steeplechase for 7 consecutive years.Initially selected for 5000 metre race but persuaded by coach to run for steeplechase.

Paan Singh joined sports as he came to know that there is no limit to diet.In 1958,he participated in in the Asian Games at Tokyo, but couldn’t win because of inability to adjust with the Spikes given to him in the final event only. He feels frustrated when not allowed to go the borders in 1962 and 1965 war because sportsmen were not allowed to fight in the wars. In 1967, he participated in the International Military Games and wins the gold medal in the steeplechase.

But destiny had some other plans,a family feud occurs forcing him to become a dacoit.Paan Singh gets killed in an encounter in the year 1981.

Unparallel performance by Irrfan followed by brilliant direction.Truely a master piece,a movie which every Indian should watch.

Agneepath : Fiery Performance by Lead Actors.

Producer : Dharma Productions

Director : Karan Malhotra

Music : Ajay-Atul

Cast : Hrithik Roshan,Priyanka Chopra,Sanjay Dutt,Rishi Kapoor

Rating : Jhakaas.

Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is back to take the revenge of his father’s death who was killed by Kancha in Karan Malhotra’s Agneepath.Kudos to Karan Malhotra for his brave effort in re-making the cult movie Agneepath.

The movie starts with Kancha who wants to produce contraband on the island of Madva is resisted by Master Dinanath Chauhan.Kancha eliminates Dinanath by hanging him from a Banyan Tree.

Vijay moves to Mumbai with his mother and new born sister.Rauf Lala(Rishi Kapoor) is a pimp and a drug dealer.Vijay saves Rauf from the Police by refusing to recognize him after Rauf murders a person in broad daylight.

Vijay piggybanks Rauf Lala to reach Kancha which angers Rauf Lala. In the mean time Rauf’s son gets killed by Vijay so is Rauf.

The climax has high-octane action scenes between Vijay Chauhan and Kancha.Though the theme is similar to the original movie, yet there has been a change in this version.Mithun Chakrabarty’s character is omitted and a new character Rauf Lala has been added.

With such changes in the characterisation, the movie is awesome with fantastic performance by lead actors.Though there could have been an obvious comparison between Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan yet both the actors have made Vijay Dinanath Chauhan a legend.

Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt both deserves a applause for their meaty performance.

Moviebee.
